My New Ride

1990 BMW 525i- It's older but it's a pretty sweet ride. Has new engine, new shocks, brakes, new tires. It's basically a new car underneath. Leather interior and fully loaded. Kids love it and so do we. We've been looking for a 2nd vehicle for a whle and this one just seemed to work for us.

Sadness in my heart today

Today should be a happy day. It's father's day and it's our wedding anniversary ( 6 years) but
today my heart is filled with sadness because my father in-law passed away. He was admitted to hospital two days ago and died last night at 9pm. He was 61 years old.
His battle with cancer was short and painful. I'm relieved to see that he is no longer in pain but sad that he is no longer here in body.
Sean and Alyssa were fortunate enough to have visited him two weeks ago and had an opportunity to see him one last time. No pictures were done during their visit as he was too ill and did not want to be photographed.
Sean has left for Edmonton today to deal with funeral details, take care of other legalities and find homes for the animals.
Sean has requested that I not cancel my trip to Florida. I explained to him that I didn't feel right about it. I have a mental image of him sitting at his fathers funeral while I'm enjoying a umbrella drink by the pool side with my long lost friends... Do you see why I'm struggling with it? It just seems wrong. Seems like I don't care.
He says I should go and have fun. I planned this trip months ago, and there was no way for me to know that this would happen. He even bought me a new camera a few weeks ago so that I could take lots of pictures on my trip ( I can't use his camera- I find it too complicated).

This is a picture of the three generations and the last time I saw my father-in-law 2 years ago.

"I Heart You"

So we came home from work today, took the kids out of the car and unpacked all our bags as we always do. As soon as I put Nathan in the house he ran down the hall to Alyssa's room. He absolutely loves her room. Why the facination with her room you ask? So many cool toys like barbie cars, my little ponies and tons of things to dump out of storage boxes (that's the best- make the mess and then move on to something else- drives me crazy) or maybe it's because he discovered something with buttons....

Look at his fingers and how busy he is typing. He absolutely loves this program. Everytime he presses a key on the keyboard it tells him what shape or number it is, once there are two many shapes or number on the screen it goes clear and then starts up again.
My Little Grabber was right into it.
Do you think he's sending me an email?

Nope, no email but he did type me a message.
Do you see it?

He typed a "heart" and a "U" twice.

Update on Grandpa

Please keep Nathan and Alyssa's grandpa in your thoughts and prayers. Last week the cancerous growth was removed and we are awaiting the results of the biopsy ( I guess to find out more about what kind of cancer it is and if it has spread more etc.), however during the surgery, Doug (a.k.a grandpa) suffered small heart attack (this is the 2nd heart attack in less than a year, first one was quite severe). They need to put a stint in his artery and it will take him about a month to recover. Grandpa cannot eat orally at all. He has a g-tube ( just like Nathan's) and he takes all liquids, meds and any food through his tube. He's currently still in the hospital. Eventually he will be released and it is expected that he go home with the feeding tube - no update on how long he will have it but  my guess is it could be a while. Both Sean and I are hopeful that he will stay with Uncle Ken and aunt Jody but we're not sure if he'll take them up on their offer to stay with them. He lives by himself on 4 acres in a big house. Having  family around to help him through this is just what he needs. Sean and I would like him to reconsider a move to BC once he recovers.
